Shine! European Capital of Culture 2023 / Veszprém-Balaton 2023

The title Cultural Capital of Europe is an awareness that the common space of European culture is created by the joint contribution of different countries and cities. It conveys in the language of the arts that European culture is common and is always the result of the cultural activity of the given region.

The city and region holding the title will rise to the center of European attention with the cultural products created there, thus improving the image of the city, increasing the efficiency of the local creative industry and increasing its tourist attraction.

The Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme is a celebration for the town of Veszprém and region, helping the area advance to the status of a major European cultural scene and tourist destination. In organising a string of showcase events, Hungary’s aim is to boost the number of culture consumers in addition to improving creative industries in service of culture through education and infrastructural developments.

 

That is why the European Capital of Culture was prepared with a grandiose opening ceremony, during which the audience could see spectacular productions.

Among the values of Veszprém-Balaton 2023 are community building, volunteering, nurturing and preserving the traditional age order, innovation, which increases the range by producing new products, and, of course, sustainability, the modernization of the old with the inclusion of green solutions.

Veszprém and the Balaton region joined the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian National Anthem and the Day of Hungarian Culture with a spectacular celebration and accompanying cultural programs to start the European Capital of Culture program year. Hungarian music, dance, art, regional gastronomic for two days and beyond.
